Summer Intensives

  • Sydney Australia: Dates TBA
  • New York City: June 10th – Aug 9th, 2024

Intermediate through Professional: ages 11-25

NYDP Summer Intensives are the perfect way for dancers to challenge themselves both technically and artistically, while experiencing the vibrancy of the arts in each location. Both New York City and Florence, Italy are centers of dance, art, and culture that enhance our dancers’ summer experience and broaden their perspectives as artists.

Dancers will be challenged through rigorous development of technique, exploring new ways of moving, learning history, creating new work, and by introducing them to the repertory of Gerald Arpino and Robert Joffrey.

Dancers in all programs will take classes taught by our NYDP Summer Faculty, Monday through Friday each week. We offer flexible week programs where accepted dancers can choose to attend a minimum of one week up to the entire duration of the program, in both cities. Acceptance to our Summer Intensives is by audition only. All dancers participating in our summer intensives will be considered for New York Dance Project’s Year-Round Company.

NYC Summer Intensive offers two concentrations: ballet and contemporary, with no pointe work required for the contemporary program. Classes include ballet, modern, pointe, variations, contemporary, improvisation, partnering (ballet and contemporary), conditioning, wellness, and dance history. Dancers work with established teachers and choreographers that have danced and choreographed for major companies around the world.

(Florence, Italy has a single program with ballet and contemporary. Pointe work optional.)

All dancers participating in our summer intensives will be considered for New York Dance Project’s Year-Round Company.
